New fencing at Sønderhå Plantation should help to ensure the natural values

With funding from RigKilde LIFE and the European Rural Development Fund, in the spring of 2018, Thisted Municipality has established a new fence around the orchid meadow at Sønderhå Plantation.

The area has previously been grazed with sheeps, but in the future it will be grazed with Scottish highland cattle that will help to secure the great natural values in the area.

At the same time, new folding doors and a set of information boards have been established to help make the nature experience even better.

The area contains a lot of rare, protected and red-listed species such as broad-leaved marsh orchid, loppe-sedge, Dioecious sedge etc.
