Retail projects for Svenstrup Kær and Svenstrup Å completed
Based on technical feasibility studies and project agreements with private landowners, the municipality of Jammerbugt has now, with consultancy assistance from COWI A/S, completed the retailproject for the restoration of Svenstrup Å and the two springs Fosdal Bæk and Hjuldal Bæk. The restoration measures, which include approx. 2500 meters of Svenstrup Å from Fosdalvej to Underlien and approx. 300 meters of Fosdal Bæk and 600 meters of Hjuldal Bæk between the Lien slope and Svenstrup Å, will improve the ecological condition of the streams. For Svenstrup Å, the planned restoration efforts are primarily focused on physical improvements to the existing watercourse route, while new watercourse routes for the two spring watercourses are predominantly established.
In addition, a detailed description has been made for a number of hydrological measures that will improve the natural state of existing deposits of rich reefs, spring forests and dune-making in Svenstrup Kær and create the conditions for especially new rich reefs to establish over time. The initiatives in Svenstrup Kær will be focused on establishing more natural hydrology by filling drainage ditches.
The measures are established on both private land and public land owned by the Nature Agency Thy or Jammerbugt municipality.
Following necessary regulatory approvals, the planned actions are expected to be carried out in 2019
